Day 2!

Good afternoon SJA Families ! 


Today in Math we began our new unit in math ! Geometry ! The grade 4's were very excited to start this new unit and today our lesson was about exploring how to name and sort polygons. A polygon is a closed figure with 3 or more straight sides. We also explored vertex and naming polygons by their vertex. We reviewed what an Isosceles, scalene and equilateral triangle is and even had a chance to come up to the white board and practice some naming of triangles. Homework has been assigned on page 82 of the textbook #2,3,4 and workbook page 36-37. 




In Language today we worked on our spelling lesson 20 and also on the new grammar lesson. In grammar we looked at what common nouns are and also what proper nouns are. See the examples below. Grammar and spelling are due tomorrow and Thursday will be our spelling test.

In UOI we looked at Medieval times and what the governing system was like in Medieval era. We read aloud about the feudal system and labeled our own pyramid with what the parts of the feudal system are.

March Break Camps
Forms have been sent home regarding SJA's Awesome Adventure Camp. This wonderful camp will run from Monday to Friday for the entire March Break (March 9-13 & March 16 -20) and is offered to students from JK to Grade 6. Field trips will take place on Thursday afternoon. Meal plans are also included if you choose to do so. Cash or Quickbooks payments are the accepted forms of payment. Don't delay, register today! 

Dear SJA Families,

Just a reminder that the SJA re-registration process is underway. To reserve your child's 2020-2021 place at St. Jude's Academy, complete and return your child's re-registration forms and payment to reception by Tuesday, February 18th, 2020 at 4:00 pm. 

After this date and time, any available grade-level spaces will be open to new families on the wait list.

Good afternoon SJA families  We started our day with reading buddies ...    Math:  Today in Math we continued practicing multiplying decimals and dividing decimals. Students had a chance to explore the math problems together and come up to answer questions on the white board. Students have expressed the interest in showing the decimals using the base ten blocks.   Math questions have been assigned on page 145 #1,2,3 and page 62+63 also a practice worksheet has been given for practice.  Inquiry into Language: The majority of the class completed their good copy of their speech over this week. Today, they spent part of their morning practicing so that they could memorize their speech. We went over a few helpful tips to remember when trying to memorize their speech. Good afternoon SJA parents Today the grade 4s began their Data Management Assignment. They conducted a survey about the religious demographic of students and teachers in grades 1-5. For this assignment, the grade 4s are being challenged to collect data, create graphs, and interpret their findings using concepts and terminology learned throughout the unit. This is a two day assignment, so the grade 4s will have the opportunity to complete their assignment tomorrow.  Today in language   the grade 4s will continued to work on their speeches. Some students have begun their third paragraph (subtopic 2). Hello SJA parents! Inquiry into Math: Today the grade 4's continued working on a math review. We have reviewed some of our math questions and added some new notes to our math wall.. we have now completed the Show What You Know review from the textbook and began working on our math review worksheets (questions 1-4 have been assigned). Reminder our math test will be on Thursday.  Inquiry into Language: Today in language We discussed chapter 28 as a class and 29 and 30 have been assigned for homework. I have gone over all the worksheets that should be done by now in our Ghosts in the Churchyard package and we have reviewed the missing worksheets that will be assigned this week. Today I assigned the "character card" worksheet that goes along with chapters 28-30. The Ghosts in the Churchyard package will be collected and is expected to be completed in full by Friday.  We also have worked on spelling lesson 23 - our spelling test ...
