Day 5!

Good afternoon SJA Families ! 


Look at us during daily 5 today ! 









Today in math we continue to practice our angles. This morning, students were broken up into pairs and asked to write out 10 different sets of instructions and angle measurements in the math notebook and then swap with a partner .. the partner(s) were then tasked with constructing those angles and following the instructions provided. The 1st group to complete the instructions and construct all angles in full won a prize. Congratulations Aashyra and Justin ! 
A worksheet that is double sided has been assigned for homework as extra practice. 





In Language today we continued to read our novel Ghosts in the churchyard. Today we read as a class chapter 4, and chapter 5 and 6 have been assigned as in class work and homework if not complete. We continued to fill in the 'old world, new word' and also the predictions before reading page. Students have also been assigned the visualization worksheet where they were tasked to use the visualization skills talked about in class to draw our what they think chapter 6 events looked like. 
Students also had time to work on spelling lesson 21, Due Thursday. No grammar was assigned this week. 






In Unit of Inquiry we continued to learn about medieval times and today we looked at the plague or black death and its significance in medieval times unit. We read an article that helped us to better understand why the black death took so many lives and even played an interactive game called 'Run from the plague'! Check us our below.

Good afternoon SJA families  We started our day with reading buddies ...    Math:  Today in Math we continued practicing multiplying decimals and dividing decimals. Students had a chance to explore the math problems together and come up to answer questions on the white board. Students have expressed the interest in showing the decimals using the base ten blocks.   Math questions have been assigned on page 145 #1,2,3 and page 62+63 also a practice worksheet has been given for practice.  Inquiry into Language: The majority of the class completed their good copy of their speech over this week. Today, they spent part of their morning practicing so that they could memorize their speech. We went over a few helpful tips to remember when trying to memorize their speech. Good afternoon SJA parents Today the grade 4s began their Data Management Assignment. They conducted a survey about the religious demographic of students and teachers in grades 1-5. For this assignment, the grade 4s are being challenged to collect data, create graphs, and interpret their findings using concepts and terminology learned throughout the unit. This is a two day assignment, so the grade 4s will have the opportunity to complete their assignment tomorrow.  Today in language   the grade 4s will continued to work on their speeches. Some students have begun their third paragraph (subtopic 2). Hello SJA parents! Inquiry into Math: Today the grade 4's continued working on a math review. We have reviewed some of our math questions and added some new notes to our math wall.. we have now completed the Show What You Know review from the textbook and began working on our math review worksheets (questions 1-4 have been assigned). Reminder our math test will be on Thursday.  Inquiry into Language: Today in language We discussed chapter 28 as a class and 29 and 30 have been assigned for homework. I have gone over all the worksheets that should be done by now in our Ghosts in the Churchyard package and we have reviewed the missing worksheets that will be assigned this week. Today I assigned the "character card" worksheet that goes along with chapters 28-30. The Ghosts in the Churchyard package will be collected and is expected to be completed in full by Friday.  We also have worked on spelling lesson 23 - our spelling test ...
